Simple Syrup for Delicious Lattes
Share
Who doesn't love a delicious latte flavored with your favorite syrup? Did you know that you can make your own using a 1:1 ratio of sugar to water? Below are two easy recipes that are sure to please!
Vanilla Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 Tbs. pure vanilla extract (or vanilla paste)
Combine ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Cool completely. Syrup will thicken slightly as it cools. Pour into jars and store in refrigerator for up to 1 month. (Be sure not to put lid on jar until completely cooled. This aides in the evaporation process.)
Lavender Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 Tbs (+/-) fresh lavender blossoms. (dry works great, too!)
Combine ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer 5 minutes and then remove from heat. Continue to steep in pan for 15 minutes. Strain, squeezing all flavor from blossoms. Syrup will thicken slightly as it cools. When completely cool, pour into jars and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.( Be sure not to put lid on jar until completely cooled. This aides in the evaporation process.)
*Note: Use 1-2 Tbs. of syrup in lattes and enjoy!
